Motorcycles above 200cc will now become costlier. The government has exorbitantly increased the customs duty on motorcycles above 200cc through the budget for the upcoming fiscal year.Motorcycles between 200cc-250cc will now attract an additional excise duty of 20 percent and 10 percent customs. Similarly, the customs duty for motorcycles between 251cc-500cc has been increased to 70 percent while excise duty has been fixed at 80 percent. Moreover, the customs duty for motorcycles above 501cc has now been fixed at 80 percent.
However, the customs duties for motorcycles below 200 cc remain the same.
With the added customs and excise duties, expect a steep hike in the prices of motorcycles above 200cc.
